For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.
Happy March! The LORD be with you!
Being Lutheran, being liturgical, is all
about speaking to God and to one another the things God has said to us.
Take a look at the Divine Service. The words that we
speak, pray, confess, and sing are almost entirely quoting the
Bible. For example whenever we sing the Feast of Victory,
Worthy is Christ the Lamb who was slain, whose blood set us
free to be people of God!
, these are the same words found in the
book of Revelation. And when we take up these words we join
with those who are already and those who one day will be gathered
around our Lord in heaven. Worthy is Christ the Lamb!
Give thanks for LENT! The
season of Lent begins this coming Wednesday with Ash Wednesday services at 1:00pm and 7:00pm. (NOTE: Both services will
include celebration of Sacrament of the Altar.) Again this year our
Ash Wednesday service will include the 'Imposition of Ashes,'
Remember that you are dust.
For nearly a thousand years these words have been spoken to young and old alike as the sign of the cross is traced on their foreheads with ashes - the Imposition of Ashes, as it has come to be known. During the last half of the 20th century Lutherans have also begun to make use of this ancient rite.
Singing With the Exiles
will be our theme for midweek services - Don't forget to take home one of
the Singing
devotion books.
Give thanks to God for a fabulous sausage supper. Boatloads of blessings, that's our sausage supper. I continue to be amazed at all the volunteers, planning, guests, the potatoes and kraut and relish and sausage. Thanks again to all our leaders/helpers; at Zion... we know how to sling sausage!
O GIVE THANKS TO THE LORDGive thanks for Pastor Chuck Cartwright who will be with us the weekend of March 18/19.
O GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD
